AICTE Mandatory Disclosure on a Polytechnic College Website, Explained

Short answer: an AICTE-approved institution, including a polytechnic, must maintain a website that carries the prescribed mandatory disclosure, place it at a prominent location, and update it whenever the information changes. The current format is in AICTE's Approval Process Handbook (the 2024-27 edition lists it in Annexure 18).
What AICTE requires
AICTE's letters of approval state that it is mandatory for the institution to maintain a website providing the prescribed information, and that the website information must be updated as and when changes take place. The mandatory disclosure is to be put on the institution's website as per the directions in the Approval Process Handbook. Check the current handbook on aicte.gov.in before you publish.
What the disclosure covers
The exact list is in the handbook. In practice the disclosure sets out information the college has already submitted to AICTE, including:
- Institution details: name, address, the trust or society running it, and contact details
- Programmes and approved intake, department by department
- Fees for each programme
- Faculty details
- Infrastructure, department by department: laboratories, workshops, library and computing facilities
- Audited financial statements
- Admission information for the coming session
Keeping it current
- One owner. Make one person in the office responsible for the page.
- Update triggers. New approval letter, changed intake, faculty joining or leaving, new fee structure, new audited accounts.
- Same facts everywhere. The website, the information booklet and what was submitted to AICTE should match.
- Documents that open on a phone. Compress PDFs and test the links after every website change.
Questions colleges ask us
Does this apply to diploma (polytechnic) colleges?
Yes, if the institution is approved by AICTE. The disclosure duty is part of AICTE's approval process for approved institutions, and diploma programmes are approved through the same process.
What happens if the disclosure is missing or wrong?
AICTE approval letters state that if an institution fails to disclose the information, or suppresses or misrepresents it, action can be taken under the notified regulations, and AICTE may inspect with or without notice.
Where should the disclosure appear on the website?
At a prominent location. A 'Mandatory Disclosure' link in the main menu or footer, opening a page with the information and linked documents, is the usual approach.
Can you build the disclosure page for our college?
Yes. We lay the page out from the format in AICTE's current Approval Process Handbook and give your office a simple way to update it.
